Winter Reds 2012
Verdun Park Wines is excited to be launching their first Shiraz at the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Winter Reds event this Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July from 12-5pm.
Verdun Park Wines is a small boutique Adelaide Hills wine producer owned by the Voumard Family, specialising in premium Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz varietals. Verdun Park Wines was created from the family’s passion to create high quality regional examples of Adelaide Hills, cool climate wines.
Verdun Park’s first Shiraz, 2009 ‘Albert Arthur’ Shiraz is named ‘Albert Arthur’ in honour of Bob’s father, Albert Arthur Byrne Voumard who was a true Gentleman of his time. This limited production of only 140 dozen is a highly prized addition to their small portfolio of wines with each bottle being individually silk screened and hand numbered. This premium Adelaide Hills Shiraz has spent 18 months in French Oak. It is a vibrant cherry red, with a plum and peppery nose followed by a spicy fruit palate.
Verdun Park also have an Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc which is named ‘Lyla’ in honour of Bob’s mother, Lyla Voumard. Both Albert and Lyla lived to the grand old age of 96. They were always very interested in the vineyard and future wines and would be having a laugh now, especially as Lyla did not consume alcohol.
Verdun Park Wines do not have a Cellar Door but will be opening their doors to participate in ‘Winter Reds’ this weekend. Join them and enjoy a hearty bowl of Bob’s homemade Chilli Con Carne with ciabatta rolls. Follow with a warm quandong pie with Tweedvale cream, delicious cupcakes and coffee. Buy a glass or bottle of the long awaited first release 2009 Verdun Park ‘Albert Arthur’ Shiraz and/or 2011 Verdun Park ‘Lyla’ Sauvignon Blanc.
